⭐ Attendee Spotlight: Karina Perez

Karina Perez
Director, Space &Spectrum Policy Center, CCIA

She is the Director of the Space and Spectrum Policy Center at the Computer and Communications Industry Association (CCIA) in Washington, D.C. Her work focuses on critical policy and regulatory issues at the intersection of the space economy and telecommunications. She works directly with CCIA’s members—many of the world’s largest innovators—who are developing satellite-based and high-band spectrum communication systems. Her efforts are dedicated to advancing sensible policies that promote competition, innovation, and the deployment of resilient broadband networks through LEO constellations.

She was recently named a 2025 Via Satellite Rising Star.

🚀What first drew you to attend SATShow?

I first attended SATShow when I was an intern years ago at the House Science Committee, it helped me connect to industry and learn about the different applications. Later I was SGx 2019 deputy Manager and SGx 2020 manager. Now SATShow is a great place to continue networking and learning about our ever evolving industry.

🤝What do you find most valuable about SATShow?

SATShow provides the concentrated environment needed to kick-off complex conversations, maintain crucial relationships, and gather essential technical information

🔭What are you most excited about for this year’s show?

I am most excited to dive into the global conversation surrounding the evolving regulatory framework for LEO constellation expansion. As LEO systems continue their exponential growth, ensuring a predictable and fair spectrum environment is paramount. Separately, I am always thrilled to connect with and mentor the next generation of young professionals who are attending the show for the first time.

💡Advice for first-time attendees?

My advice for first-time attendees, or anyone looking to build a career here, is to focus on the people and the culture. The technology is amazing, but our industry can only continue to grow if we invest in the next generation. Introduce yourself to the experts on the panels, seek out mentorship opportunities, and look for ways to pay it forward. That commitment to people is what will truly secure the future of space.
